The goal is to create a formal model, analysis, and metrics that measure operator workload in Human-machine systems. Ultimately, automation and GUI enhancements are prototyped in the modeling language to establish improved workload before being implemented and deployed in the field. Further, insights are gained through the modeling exercise that are not readily seen in field studies. Modeling is also lower cost than field studies. Both are needed, but much more can be done in the lab through modeling and analysis before building an actual prototype and conducting a field study.

All of the work is found in the Workload Project on Github. The work is collaborative with the on-going efforts of Neha Rungta and Richard Stocker of NASA Ames with workload modeling in Brahms Brahms Verification bitbucket project.
